Tours & Excursions -
Kamberg Rock Art R
1750 p.p.
An
energetic day tour of this historic world heritage site involves a fairly
strenuous 3-hour hike, and is well worth the spectacular landscape. We start
with an audiovisual presentation giving us an insight into the beliefs and
legends of the San people who for many years roamed these very hills as
hunter-gatherers. On our hike to Game Pass Shelter we are accompanied by a
knowledgeable custodian who will enlighten us on the medicinal uses of plants,
the names of the surrounding hills and any wild animals we may happen across.
Enjoy unraveling the meanings of the paintings that reveal so much of the San
peoples’ history and religion. We then enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch
on the banks of a trout dam, with spectacular views of the changing moods of
the mountains.
